Jill Carter-Hansen is a Sydney based author/illustrator/filmmaker who also writes and illustrates children ‘s books. She has also designed and illustrated for publishers, and written, designed and directed three animated films. These have been supported by Australian Film Commission, NSW Film Office and CANON Australia.
She is represented in both public and private collections - recipient of grants, awards and sponsorship's.
While lecturing in several areas of the visual-arts since 1988 Carter-Hansen has tutored and presented her work at many universities, tertiary institutes and schools. She has delivered numerous presentations, and workshops to primary and secondary students in both New Zealand and Australia - including workshops at the Art Gallery of NSW and the NSW State Library.
Jill was invited to speak at the Royal College of Art in London. Her work has shown internationally, and opened the conference “Religion, Literature and the Arts” at the University of Sydney 1996.

Bearly There tells the story of a rather worn-out but well-loved teddy bear who comes up against a much newer and much cheekier teddy. The book, is illustrated by Jill Carter-Hansen, is published by Windy Hollow Books.

A flamboyant elephant arrives at a tea party and makes herself at home. Suddenly her clothes acquire a life of their own and the children of the house find themselves entertaining an elephant, a tiger, a tortoise, a giraffe, a pair of snakes and a cockatoo.
This was Jill's first book and was a finalist in the Lothian unpublished Children's Book Awards.
