Edu. Dates Term 1

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

At Syba we always find that term one is over before you know it! To help ease you into the new school year we have compiled a list of ‘Edu. Dates,’ all the events and dates that matter to education professionals, from Library Lovers Day to National Youth Week, we have it covered.

Many schools and libraries that we work with mark these important days with displays and special events, if you are doing something special we would love to hear about it!

Please see below for a snapshot of the events coming up in Term 1 - Don't worry there is more where they came from! Edu Dates is going to become a permanent part of the Syba Community. Use the view all Edu Dates button for a full listing of Term 1 events.

Love2Read lives on!

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

When Sue McKerracher was pitching the idea of the National Year of Reading (NYR) to Peter Garrett MP in 2009 she could not have predicted the project would be embraced by so many people across the country. Four years and four thousand events later we say good bye to the National Year of Reading 2012 but are we ready to farewell the Love2Read flower?

Syba's Mollie Bain spoke with Robyn Ellard, Project Director for the National Year of Reading about what is next for the project:

'The National Year of Reading Founding Partners have agreed to continue the successful campaign through Love2Read - a media campaign in 2013 pulling together and promoting all the fantastic work literacy and reading agencies are doing. We will maintain the website at www.love2read.org.au, our Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as organising a few national programs including The Reading Hour on the 24 August 2013'

So there you have it, Love2Read lives on! The Love2Read team will be announcing their program publicly on February 14, follow Syba News to stay up to date.

In the meantime, remove the 'National Year of Reading 2012' section of the logo and keep the flower.

Syba’s new website

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

We’ve been working towards our new website for some time now and we trust it will make searching and buying our products more interesting & importantly make communicating with us much easier. The address is the same but the look and functionality are quite different. Please go to www.sybasigns.com.au and check it out.

You will notice that we have a facebook and twitter link quite visible on our site and we would encourage you to "like" us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. We have also modernised our logo but it is still recognisable and certainly the same purple that you are all used to.

There's a lot more to our new site, we have added videos, resources and articles. These can be found within the shop, seminar and community menus on the website. Keep reading to find out how to navigate and get the most out of the website. We hope you enjoy discovering our products and services in a fresh new environment.

Online Shop

Our online shop includes all our products including education resources, library signage, educational posters, vinyl lettering and other products designed to enhance your learning space. On the home tab and in the footer you will find instructional videos, how 2 guides and label and divider lists to help you understand our resources.

Seminars

Syba seminars include a range of professional development opportunities for teacher-librarians and other education professionals. These opportunities were developed in response to our clients, who requested professional development programs with a school library and Australian education focus. You will find upcoming seminars, speaker biographies and the Syba Speakers Network, a group of professionals available to visit your school.

Community

The Syba community is an online hub for relevant education resources. It is a place for sharing and includes Syba's published articles, valuable resources, a list of important education dates and our blog 'Syba News', which you are currently reading.

Thank you for visiting us, we hope you find the site rewarding and please come back again soon!

The Syba team.
